Soulless Xombie, Spawn of Nxla

Soulless Xombie — Human

This is a human Soulless Xombie, AKA Spawn of Nxla. Most notable among its abilities is supernatural strength and regeneration powers. They are fearless, and serve directly under a single Harvester. If that Harvester is incapacitated or killed, the Xombie will roam uncontrolled, attacking any living being it encounters who isn’t a Harvester, Necromancer, demon, or ally of Nxla, until taken over by another Harvester, incapacitated, or destroyed.

Soulless Xombies are created when Harvesters conduct a ritual that opens a Rift to Nxla’s realm for 2d6 minutes (per the GM’s Guide, a Partial Rift) and Nxla sends 4d10 ice-cold, black snaking energy fragments into the world. These fragments travel outward in all directions seeking out and attacking the minds and souls of all vulnerable sentient life (any not already aligned to him, such as Harvesters and their allies, and not demonic, vampiric, or spiritual in nature, i.e. ghosts, ethereal, astral, angelic, or elemental).

When a fragment finds a vulnerable, sentient being, it attacks for three rounds, attempting to possess the being and send its soul back to Nxla to be slowly devoured. The target must roll Spirit -2 each round to resist the attack or become a Soulless Xombie, its soul trapped inside Nxla’s being until rescued. Success means the fragment abandons its attack and seeks out easier prey. A Raise means the fragment dissolves itself in the attack and will trouble no one further.

During the ritual, those with Arcane Background (Psionics) who are within two miles (1760 inches) of the Rift will experience sensations of cold, darkness, and fear.

Anyway, here’s my writeup of the Soulless Xombie:

Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d4, Spirit d6, Strength d12+1, Vigor d12

Skills: Fighting d10, Throwing d6, Notice d4

Cha: -2; Pace: 6; Parry: 7; Toughness:17 (6)

Hindrances: Mindless, Ugly, Serves Harvesters

Edges: Brawler, Brawny, Combat Reflexes

Powers:  none

Gear: typically none, may be wearing armor.

Special Abilities:

Supernatural Protection: Toughness +4, M.D.C. Armor +6

Weakness (Psionics & Holy Attacks): Suffers +4 damage from Psionic attacks, including psionically-smited weapons, and holy attacks.

Mindless: Impervious to illusions, cold, heat, poisons, disease, radiation, and mind control effects.

Fast Regeneration: Can make a Vigor roll each round to heal Wounds. They cannot regenerate Wounds from holy weapons or attacks, but are rendered inert rather than destroyed, lying still but alive for an hour or two. Their masters will attempt, if practical, to retrieve them to be healed and re-entered into service, but, if abandoned, the Xombie’s Lost Soul can be restored and Nxla’s essence cast out through an elaborate and dangerous ritual.

Nightvision: Ignore Illumination penalties up to -6.

Enhanced Leap: Xombies can leap 2 inches up and 4 inches across.
